Hamzy family member shot dead in daylight attack

Chris O'Keefe

The brother of crime boss Bassam Hamzy has been shot dead in a daylight attack.

Ghassan Amoun was found injured in a parked vehicle at South Wentworthville and died at the scene.

The 35-year-old had only been released from prison earlier this week, after last year breaching a crime prevention order.

Another car was found on fire nearby.

Nine News reporter Emma Partridge told Chris O’Keefe it’s an escalation of the ongoing gangland war.

“He had a target on his back and he knew that so this is not coming as a surprise to most people,” she said.
