Hairdressers react after speculation for vaccination reward falls flat
The beauty sector says there’s a lot of “disappointment” after speculation hairdressers would reopen for the fully vaccinated.
The Premier did not make an announcement of the reopening of hairdressers, despite speculation that would be the reward for hitting six million jabs.
The speculation created anxiety in the industry due to a lack of access to vaccines for younger workers.
Australian Hairdressing Council CEO Sandy Chong told Deborah Knight there’s a lot of “angst” in the industry.
“Much of our industry is actually not vaccinated.
“Vaccinations for our younger employees have not been accessible at all.
“If they want hairdressing to be one of the first industries to open then … they need to have a [vaccination] blitz for our industry.”
