A flash thunderstorm has covered Sydney in a blanket of hail this afternoon.

Sydney’s western and southern suburbs copped the brunt of it with small stones reported from Jamisontown to Engadine.

The storms hit around 1.30pm and have now headed towards the coast.

Listener James called 2GB from Penrith as the storm hit.

“It’s just some light hail. It looks fantastic. It’s definitely coming in to Sydney.”
