GUIDE: What to do if you get COVID-19

Ben Fordham

Here are some tips to help you recover from your COVID infection.

What to do if you feel sick:

1. A positive rapid test is now all someone needs to start isolation. You don’t need to queue up for a PCR.

2. On the day you test positive- you have to log your positive result with Service NSW. Failure to do so could result in a $1,000 fine.

3. You must isolate for 7 days.

4. After the 7 days – if you have no symptoms- you can simply leave.

In terms of what you’ll need:

1. It’s recommended you stock up on panadol and throat lozenges.

2. Have a supply of rapid tests, masks and hand sanitiser already sorted.

3. Drink plenty of water… people who’ve had COVID recommend Hydrolite and Gatorade.

4. Doctors also recommend Vitamin D3 tablets, a Probiotic and Zinc.

5. Prepare some frozen meals or have a friend drop around food to help you through the week.

Normal symptoms for COVID:

1. A cough or sore throat

2. Exhaustion and sore limbs

3. Fever and headache

4. A loss of taste and smell

Symptoms to watch out for:

1. Severe dizziness, sudden shortness of breath, chest pain or drowsiness.

2. If you develop these symptoms- NSW Health says to ring 000.

3. Women who are more than 14 weeks pregnant also need to take extra care.
