Greens MP admits to taking MDMA: ‘I’m not going to go into details’

A Greens MP has become the first politician in Australia to publicly admit to having taken MDMA.

Cate Faehrmann says she’s making the admission to encourage an honest debate about drug use.

But the 48-year-old NSW MP is refusing to answer questions about whether she is still a drug user.

Ms Faehrmann tells Steve Price she first took them in her 20s and continued to use them over the next two decades.

“Then occasionally continued to take MDMA in my 30s and 40s.

“That’s what I’m prepared to say.

“I’m not going to go into details of who, what, when, where, how because the focus needs to be on how we reduce harm.”
