Government in need of ‘reality check’ as parents return to work

Article image for Government in need of ‘reality check’ as parents return to work

The NSW Opposition will lobby the government to bring forward the date for reopening of schools, calling out an obvious flaw in the current roadmap.

Shadow education minister Prue Car told Joe Hildebrand it makes no sense to reopen the pubs and clubs on October 11 when most kids can’t return to the classroom until November 8.

“If you work in retail or hospitality, or any of those industries that are going to start to open back up … what are you going to do if your child is not back at school yet?

“The government should be urgently looking at ways to make the classroom safe so we can get our kids back to school earlier.

“The government really need to get a reality check on that I think.”
