Maeve, an 11-year-old from Sydney, sent King Charles III a letter ahead of his coronation, and she received a reply.

“I’m really sorry to hear about your mum. Mum and dad let me stay up to watch Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. You were so brave on that sad day. I think you’ll be an excellent King,” her letter reads.

Maeve told Ben Fordham that she wrote the letter because she wanted Charles to know “I was sad for him to lose his mum”, but Maeve didn’t think she would get a reply.
