A former NSW Premier is reportedly considering running in the 2022 federal election, months after resigning due to an ICAC investigation.

Nominations were meant to have closed on December 3, but the deadline was extended to January 14 to reportedly allow Gladys Berejiklian more time to decide whether she will nominate for the seat of Warringah.

Liberal Party federal vice-president Teena McQueen told Ben Fordham “in politics, anything is possible”.

“I think it’s probably a bit difficult before a judgement is handed down, we must be respectful of ICAC … but we keep all options open.”

A report in The Daily Telegraph has indicated senior conservatives are encouraging former broadcaster Alan Jones to try his hand at federal politics.

“I think that’s a long shot,” Ms McQueen said.
