‘Give people their say’: Mark Latham calls for lawmaking overhaul

One Nation MP Mark Latham is calling for a revolutionary overhaul of NSW lawmaking, in an attempt to give citizens more power in decision making.
The NSW One Nation leader has teamed up with former NSW Treasury secretary Percy Allen to move the motion, which they believe would prevent half-baked laws from being rushed through parliament.
They say controversial laws such as the greyhound ban and lockout laws should be put to community focus groups to gauge the amount of support they have from the public.
Mark Latham tells Ben Fordham it’s a matter of saving the state government from itself.
“You look at the major political problems the Baird and then the Berejiklian government had, it was all about rushed legislation.
“Give people their say up front, because if people are denied an opportunity to put their point of view they get angry and they get more determined to have their say later on when it’s too late.”
