Giant jets taking to the skies for a good cause

Large scale models of planes will take to the skies this weekend in Sydney to raise money for children in need.

The Fast Jets and Amazing Pilots event gives Sydneysiders a chance to get up close and personal with pilots who build and fly the powerful aircraft models, which can reach up to 400km/h.

All proceeds from the day go to NSW Kids in Need, which supports acts as a funding arm for six children’s charities including Bear Cottage and the Burns Unit at Westmead.

Former NSW Opposition Leader Peter Debnam, who is the chairman of the NSW Kids in Need Foundation, tells Chris Smith he’s excited for the weekend ahead.

“It’s already about three times the size of last year, so I’m hopeful that we’re really going to do extraordinarily well!”
