‘Get to work!’: Ben Fordham calls out ‘lazy’ welfare recipients
Ben Fordham is calling on the federal government to encourage almost a million Australians on welfare to get to work.
A session at Canberra’s Job Summit will discuss “Policy levers to increase workforce participation”.
892,000 people are receiving unemployment benefits at the same time there are 480,000 jobs available.
“They’re either too lazy or we’ve made it too easy for them to stay at home,” Ben said.
Jobseeker and Youth Allowance Centrelink payments cost up to $30 billion a year.
“We need to support pensioners and veterans and people with disabilities,” Ben opined on his Breakfast show.
“But I’m not convinced that 892,000 people on Jobseeker and Youth Allowance are seriously unable to work.”
