The Matildas got the job done against the Republic of Ireland, but Brenton Speed believes the side were far from their best.

The tense, nervy opening match saw a lot of nitty-gritty fouls and plenty of aggression, but Speed believes Australia needs to do better at the simple stuff.

“End product and the ability to put players through into space wasn’t quite there last night. It was a little frustrating to watch”, he told Mark Levy.
