Former Wallabies captain Simon Poidevin has become a member of the Order of Australia for his outstanding service to education, not-for-profit groups and sport.

Simon played 59 test matches for Australia which included a World Cup Win in 1991.

Simon joined Chris Smith to explain what being Australian means to him.

“Australians do have a great love for swimming and beaches so we formed a swimming club on tour. We swam in rivers in Scottland which were almost ice but you had to do it.

“I remember it was snowing.”

Simon also spoke to Chris about his involvement in the R U OK foundation and the recent loss of rugby great Dan Vickerman.

“Dan was a strong guy…no one saw that coming. Dan leaves us and everyone asks how and why.

“People shouldn’t be ashamed to reach out.”
