Former energy minister’s solution to the power crisis

Former energy minister Angus Taylor has explained how he thinks the energy crisis can be solved, advocating for more collaboration on dispatchable energy supply.

“The way to solve this problem is not to come in like a dictator and crash the market, it’s to get more supply,” he told Deborah Knight.

“Sit down with the gas suppliers, the generators, the coal suppliers… don’t demonize them, don’t say they’re not part of the future, work with them and get more supply in.”

Mr Taylor also took a shot at new Energy Minister Chris Bowen’s approach to the unprecedented energy shortage.

“When you start demonising your fuel source… that’s when you get into trouble.

“In the real world, you have to get pragmatic and have the full range of fuel sources – Chris Bowen’s going to learn that the hard way.”
