Former Deputy Prime Minister John Anderson believes Australian politics is in need of more bipartisanship.

Mr Anderson is among 992 people being recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

The former Deputy PM is being recognised for service to rural and regional development, leadership in agricultural research and food security.

He has told Deborah Knight, Australia is facing huge challenges at the moment.

“Things that are outside of Australian control which really threatens us … includes the potential for both massive economic and strategic strife internationally,” he said.

“I think a higher degree of bipartisanship would be very handy at the moment.”
