A forensic scientist says evidence showing pill testing has been working for years doesn’t take into account new potentially lethal synthetic compounds.

The state government is opposed to trialling the measure, saying there isn’t enough evidence to prove it saves lives.

UTS forensic scientist Doctor John Lewis tells Alan Jones it’s impossible to declare illicit drugs safe.

“You can’t test!

“There are over 740 known synthetic compounds in 2019.

“They are in addition to all the well-known amphetamine types.”
