Foreign Minister Marise Payne has told Jim Wilson that Australia has urged Russia to de-escalate aggression amid a possible invasion of Ukraine.

“I hope that the works of the United States and many others have done, is able to dissuade Russia.”

The ongoing situation is a cause of concern to Australia as Australian individuals in Ukraine have been told to come home and the message couldn’t be any clearer.

“There are growing restrictions on commercial flights.

“Any opportunity that is available now should be taken.”

Minister Payne further commented that appropriate action will be taken if Russian plans go through saying: “We will be ready”.
