Video shows Greens are lying about kangaroo extinction

The kangaroo is a symbol recognised around the world as an icon of the Great Southern Land.

But a documentary called Kangaroo: A Love Hate Story, currently being screened in Europe and the United States, suggests kangaroos are a disappearing resource at risk of extinction.

Greens Senator Lee Rhiannon arrived in Belgium last night, leading a delegation to promote the film in Europe.

Judging by the footage listener Julie sent in from her paddock, looks like the Greens are wrong on this one…

Chris Smith has also hit out at the senator for showing her support for the documentary.

“You’ve got someone like Lee Rhiannon trying to prevent a $10-million industry so easily just to be on a centre stage,” he says.

“Lee is a communist, this is communism, they are not welcome here.”

Agriculture Minister David Littleproud has slammed the trip as “absolute insanity”, questioning if she was using taxpayer money to fund the trip.

“It’s absolutely disgusting to think that we have an Australia Greens senator that is over trying to destroy kangaroo meat industry.

“They are out there propagating false information, and I also have to ask the question, is Lee Rhiannon over in Belgium at the moment on taxpayers’ money?

“If she is, she’s got a big question to ask on how she can go into a foreign country and try and destroy Australian jobs.

“This is absolute insanity of Australian Greens.”

President of the National Farmers Federation Fiona Simson says the documentary could put in jeopardy key export markets and thousands of jobs.

“When we look at some of the complete misinformation and shock tactics that are being used in this documentary, then it is absolutely portraying a picture of rural and regional Australia that is completely false.”

She tells Chris Smith the culling of kangaroos “is not cloaked in secrecy”.

“The numbers are not declining the point of extinction, in actual fact when we look at the numbers, the numbers are increasing so rapidly,” she says.
