New electric billboards that attempted to “modernise our streets” will now be removed.

Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore has pledged to rip up the worst of those already in place.

Many pedestrians have complained about the billboards being placed in the middle of footpaths.

City of Sydney Liberal Councillor Lyndon Gannon told Jim Wilson it’s great news, but an unnecessary expense for ratepayers.

“This money could’ve fixed potholes and funded playgrounds.”
