A teen driver is in hospital after five people died in a single-vehicle crash in Sydney’s southwest.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Orange Road and East Parade, Buxton, last night following reports a Nissan Utility had left the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver, an 18-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing with non-life threatening injuries.

Three female and two male passengers, between the ages of 14 and 16, died at the scene.

Police are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or information about this incident to contact Crime Stoppers.

Superintendent Paul Fuller told Ben the scene was “horrific”, confirming the car was a five-seater.

“Inquiries into how six kids came to be in that vehicle are ongoing.”

Mr Fuller says they don’t believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
