Firefighters are being called out to rubbish truck fires on a weekly basis due to lithium-ion batteries.

Fire and Rescue NSW Commissioner Jeremy Fewtrell has told Mark Levy they’ve already had more than 100 fires throughout the waste and recycling system.

Now, my suspicion would be most of those other ones that we’ve had in the waste sector would involve lithium-ion batteries,” he said.
