A Liberal MP is under fire over an incorrect claim made on the 2GB Breakfast show.

Reid MP Fiona Martin was involved in a studio debate with her Labor rival, Sally Sitou.

During the fiery discussion on Ben Fordham Live, Dr Martin claimed Ms Sitou was only contesting the seat because she’d missed out on running in the electorate of Fowler.

Dr Martin: “You found an opportunity and you couldn’t run in Fowler. Kristina Keneally kicked you out of Fowler too.”

Sally Sitou: “Now she’s just making things up. That’s how ridiculous this debate has gotten. And I’m really sorry your listeners have had to listen to that.”

Ms Sitou has never been involved in a pre-selection battle for Fowler.

ALP officials believe Dr Martin may have confused Ms Sitou with former Fowler hopeful Tu Le.

My opponent either has me confused for a different Asian-Australian, or she is deliberately misleading people.

Either way, she should apologise.
