Australia Federal Police have raided the Department of Home Affairs office in Canberra as officers investigate a leak related to the au pair saga.

Internal emails leaked to the media showed Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton’s office demanded an au pair detained at Brisbane airport be given urgent consideration for a visa.

The emails also show the Minister went against official advice to save a French au pair from deportation.

The AFP has confirmed it’s investigating the leak.

2GB political reporter Michael Pachi tells Ben Fordham the raids lasted about four hours.

He says police are now trying to work out who leaked sensitive information about two foreign nannies.
