A federal Minister has dismissed calls for nuclear energy to be embraced in Australia.

Since losing government, the Coalition has begun a push for the longstanding ban on nuclear power to be lifted.

This comes are power prices skyrocket amid concerns the major cities face a gas shortage.

Industry and Science Minister Ed Husic told Deborah Knight it’s “too hard” to consider nuclear.

“You’ve got to work out how much it costs and the amount of time it takes to bring this stuff online.

“I just don’t reckon, in the scheme of things right now, it will be viable.”
