The federal government has held crisis talks with Australian business leaders over supply shortages.

The list of essential industries exempt from strict isolation rules could be expanded, in a bid to address shortages of food and other supplies.

Families and Social Services Minister Anne Ruston told Chris Smith businesses want consistent rules across all states and territories.

“It was that national consistency and clarity that was the strongest thing they were asking for last night.”
