A business owner’s energy bill has more than doubled as power prices rise across the country.

The average household power bill has risen by more than $300 since April.

Tender Gourmet Butchery owner Adam Stratton told Ben Fordham the energy bill for his Macquarie Centre store has gone from $15,000 to $38,000.

“I’ve put energy efficient lighting in, energy efficient fridges … I’m looking at the next bill thinking ‘I’m going to save some money here’ but then it goes up again!”

Mr Stratton told Ben he’s unable to shop around for a new provider because of an embedded deal with the shopping centre.
