EXCLUSIVE | Parramatta Eels will look to appoint Michael Maguire this week

Ray Hadley has revealed Michael Maguire will be asked to head an internal investigation into the woeful state of the Parramatta Eels.

The club is firmly rooted to the bottom of the ladder, having won just two of 13 games this season.

Ray caused a stir back in April when sources told him Eels coach Brad Arthur had “lost the dressing room”.

The Eels have repeatedly tried to discredit that claim, but their on-field performances, culminating in a 30 to 4 loss to Newcastle on Saturday, would appear to support it.

Last month, Eels Chairman Max Donnelly admitted there may be a culture problem within the club and is now set to appoint Michael Maguire to head an internal investigation, according to Ray.

“Today, tomorrow or Wednesday they will apply and seek the appointment of Michael Maguire, the former South Sydney coach, now-New Zealand coach, to conduct an internal investigation into what’s gone wrong at Parramatta.

“Well, Max Donnelly I can tell you what’s gone wrong. As I told you personally seven weeks ago, the coach has lost the dressing room. They have no respect, nor regard, for him and when that happens, teams don’t perform.

“I don’t know whether Michael Maguire will want the job. You couldn’t pay me enough money to go there to sort it out. But if he wants the job, it’s his.

“Michael Maguire will be sought out and appointed if he wants it.”
