Article image for EXCLUSIVE | Groundbreaking plan to prevent workplace accidents

Ben Fordham has exclusively revealed the NSW government will announce a new plan tomorrow to improve workplace safety.

Tomorrow morning’s announcement with be made in conjunction with Patrizia Cassaniti, who lost her 18-year-old son to a workplace accident when scaffolding fell on top of him at a Macquarie Park construction site.

A new phone app called Speak Up, Save Lives has been developed where workers can report unsafe situations and upload photos which will be sent to SafeWork NSW.

Patrizia Cassaniti tells Ben Fordham it’s paramount to give workers a space to report incidents without fear of losing their jobs.

“This gives them the opportunity to be able to speak up and save lives.

“I’ve been fighting for this to happen and it’s happened quite quickly.”
