EXCLUSIVE – ‘Crazed’ man attacks police officer at Sydney pub
We’ve obtained footage of an attack on a Police Officer at a Sydney pub.
It’s believed the “crazed” man, unprovoked, approached the officer, stating he wanted to “kill” him.
A good Samaritan stepped in to help amidst the ordeal.
Statement from police
About 3.10pm last Friday (5 September 2025), an officer from Burwood Police Area Command was conducting patrols on Burwood Road, Burwood.
Whilst at the location the officer attended a hotel to investigate yelling coming from within the premises.
Once inside the hotel it will be alleged the officer was violently assaulted without warning by a 32-year-old man not known to him.
It will be further alleged the male attempted to stab the officer in the face with a pen.
A member of the public went to the assistance of the officer and helped detain the man until the arrival of additional police where he continued being aggressive.
With the assistance of NSW Ambulance paramedics, the man was scheduled and taken to Concord Hospital.
The officer – 42-year-old sergeant – sustained minor injuries.
The following day (Saturday 6 September 2025), the man was released into the custody of police and taken to Burwood Police Station where he was charged with assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm and armed with intent commit indictable offence.
He was refused bail to appear that same day at Parramatta Local Court.
The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 16 September 2025.
