‘Every day is a struggle’: Mother of two with a brain aneurysm desperate for elective surgery to restart

A Sydney woman waiting for brain surgery has called on the NSW government to restart elective surgery.

It comes after current health restrictions were extended until the end of February.

New figures from an Australian Institute Health and Welfares report revealed the number of patients waiting for more than a year has tripled.

Helen Theo, a Sydney mother of two, is living with a brain aneurysm that has doubled in size in the past year.

She told Jim Wilson on 2GB Drive that all she can do is wait.

“Every day is a struggle,” she said.

“Every day I’m just sitting and waiting for a phone call to let me know my surgery’s booked, but it’s not looking good.”
