A man accused of ploughing his car into a Sydney cafe has escaped police custody.

Abdalla Khila, also known as “Peter”, has allegedly fled Blacktown Hospital while under police guard.

Police have now issued a warrant for his arrest.

The 35-year-old is accused of pinning an elderly woman between his car and a Leichhardt cafe shopfront.
