The Environment Minister has tonight called a meeting of the Coalition backbench committee on energy ahead of policy discussions tomorrow.

Around a dozen MP’s are expected to voice concerns about the National Energy Guarantee in tomorrow’s party room meeting.

Some argue locking in emissions reduction targets in legislation is a mistake.

Committee chairman Craig Kelly tells Ross Greenwood he’s glad the meeting tonight is taking place because “we don’t even know what the details are”.

“This will give us a little bit more time to look at this legislation.

“We’ll get the first glimpse of it tonight and then it’ll be more time to consider it until tomorrow’s party room.”
