Energy prices set to skyrocket as market turmoil flows

Aussies are set to be hit with a huge blow on their energy bills.

The Australian Energy Regulator announced today that prices are surging up to 18.3 per cent .

The price cap on what retailers can charge customers will rise by 8-and-half per cent in New South Wales.

Premier Dominic Perrottet said the cost of living issues will be addressed in next month’s budget, but he won’t follow Queensland by announcing a special payment.

The Premier said there’s little he can do in the short term about rising costs because they are being driven by the international shortage of thermal coal.

Australian Energy Council CEO Sarah McNamara told Jim Wilson, individuals should ask their retailer for a better deal.
