An inquest into the deaths of four people on a Dreamworld ride has heard the operator that day wasn’t aware of what the ”emergency stop” button did.

When the ‘Thunder River Rapids ride malfunctioned in October 2016, the operator “wasn’t sure which button to press”.

Listener Pete, who was on the ride two days before the deaths, tells Ben Fordham the ride shut down while he was still on it.

“[The deaths] came up on the news, and straight away I got this sinking, gut-wrenching feeling in my stomach because only two days before we were on that ride.

“We actually got stuck on that ride where those four people passed away.”

The inquest continues at Southport Courthouse on the Gold Coast.
