A planned meeting between Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Donald Trump has been cancelled after the US President left the G7 meeting early.

2GB federal politics reporter Michael Pachi says Albanese hopes to meet with Trump later this year.

“You assume that would happen since there are a fair few things that do need to be discussed,” he told Mark Levy.
