The community is being reminded to stay safe on the roads ahead of the double demerit period.

Double demerits will kick off on Christmas Eve and last until January 3.

NSW Police Deputy Commissioner Mal Lanyon told Mark Levy the community should report drink, drug, dangerous and distracting driving.

“If you’re not driving regularly, take that into account when you are driving away … [and] take more care.”
