‘Get out of your slippers and go back to the office’: Restaurant owner calls out CBD workers

must listen audio

A restaurant owner has delivered a powerful message to the NSW Premier ahead of a Sydney CBD Summit designed to help revitalise the city.

Current COVID rules are expected to be lifted at the end of the month, but businesses in the CBD say workers need to come back to the office today.

Surry Hills eatery Chin Chin Owner Chris Lucas told Ben Fordham the mask mandate has to be lifted today to encourage workers back to the office.

“Dominic Perrottet potentially has the time for a line in the sand moment … he has the chance to right the wrongs.

“To get confidence back into the market we’ve got to get rid of these rules!

“Our international brand has been trashed for two years … we need to get Sydney up and going.

“The first politician that walks away from mandates and dictating to the average joe, that person will be richly rewarded at the next election.”
