Domestic airfares are soaring ahead of Christmas, with some now as expensive as international flights.

Capacity constraints and fuel prices are being blamed for the price surge.

Aviation writer with The Australian Robyn Ironside told Joe Hildebrand fares are increasing across all airlines.

“It does seem like we are paying international type fares for domestic trips which used to only cost a couple of hundred dollars.”
