‘Doesn’t add up’ – Local residents accuse council of senseless money grab
The Randwick City Council has been called out for attempting to introduce paid parking across seven beaches as a way to raise revenue and lessen the burden on residents.
Long-time resident Anni Haque has told Michael McLaren that the reasoning doesn’t make sense, considering the council’s reported revenue is far ahead of other councils.
“They say it’s going to help fund the cleanup of the beaches and so on. But that’s already sorted out. And what people may not know is that Randwick Council is one of the most fiscally sound councils in its own statements,” she said.
