Doctor urges financial investment amid high Medicare gap fees

President of the RACGP, Dr Nicole Higgins, has called for greater financial investments into the healthcare system, of Medicare gap fees.
Higgins explained that more practices as closing down as a result.
“And to be pretty frank, keeping people out of the hospital and preventing problems isn’t sexy and it doesn’t win votes”, she said.
“But, you know, neither does overflowing emergency departments. So, we need to think about keep[ing] people well”.
