Die-hard Parramatta fan opens up on iconic TV moment

JOE HILDEBRAND

Die-hard Parramatta Eels fan Paul Galvin captured the hearts and minds of Rugby League fans everywhere after he broke down on national television as his team booked a spot in the Grand Final.

The 49-year-old couldn’t contain his emotions as Paramatta beat the Cowboys 20-24 on Friday night, giving them a chance to win their first premiership since 1986 when they take on the Panthers.

He told Joe Hildebrand the reaction has been overwhelming.

“And the people that I love, being with every week weren’t there.

“It got me a bit.”
