Australia’s political leaders have defended two pilots who could have killed up to 18 civilians in Iraq.

The pilots were involved in a bombing raid against Islamic State militants in June 2017

The exact details of what happened are still sketchy.

But Defence Minister Christopher Pyne tells Ben Fordham the pilots acted within the rules.

“We can’t say for sure that it was an Australian hornet jet that fired the missiles that killed those civilians… but it’s quite possible that they were.

“They were acting under the Rules of Engagement and that’s why they won’t be disciplined.”
