Deborah Knight is calling for a moratorium on paid parking for Norton Street.
The once famed Norton Street in Leichhardt is filled with empty shopfronts while an apartment on William Street has been left derelict for over two years.
There have been discussions that timed parking is contributing to the demise of businesses in the area and many are calling for free parking to be implemented.
Inner West councillor for Leichhardt Philippa Scott told Deb, they are trying to balance the “competing needs”.
