Members of the Republican Party of Australia and the Australian Monarchist League argue whether Australia should become a republic.

The National Executive Director at the Republican Party of Australia Peter Consandine told Chris he believes Australia should not become a republic.

“We are as a constitutional Monarchy reflecting a nation of the UK when we should prosecute Australian values and symbols,” Consandine said.

Philip Benwell, the National Chairman of the Australian Monarchist League disagrees with the Republican Party Director.

“It’s the only system that knocks politicians from acts of power and that’s why it works,” Benwell argued.

“If we have a republic, the president will either be the tool of politicians or be a politician”.
