As a result of the devastating floods, the Australian Reptile Park has reported a spike in deadly spiders appearing in victims’ homes.

Residents in areas have been warned to look out for Funnel-web spiders among others.

Jake Meney from the Australian Reptile Park told Jim Wilson, “When we get this extreme rainfall and flooding… they start to become displaced”.

“They move around more frequently than they ordinarily would.

“It’s a time when we are far more likely to encounter them.”
