Jim Wilson has blasted the North Shore “lowlifes” who are abusing the disabled parking system.

Last month, over 100 people have been fined for fraudulently using disabled permits, or illegally parking in disabled zones.

Two motorists have also been caught using the disabled permits of deceased friends and family.

“It’s just unacceptable and you know what, it’s time to increase the penalties,” Jim Wilson said.

“We should double the fines and even deduct demerit points from someone’s license.

“Maybe that might get through to the rorters who are playing the system as people with disabilities are done over.”

Willoughby Council Mayor Tanya Taylor provided a stern warning to those involved.

“We don’t want you to do it, we would prefer not to issue the fines!”
