One bereaved father is running from Melbourne to Sydney, raising money to build a palliative care home for sick kids.

Ryan and his wife Karen tragically lost their son Rio last year to a rare disease which saw his arteries stop pumping blood to the rest of his body.

He was admitted to Bear Cottage in his final days but it’s only one of three homes available to children in need.

Now Ryan is running more than 1000km from Melbourne to Sydney to raise enough money to build another home like Bear Cottage.

Speaking with Ben Fordham, Ryan says he’s hoping to raise over $200,000 by the end of the run.
