Cruises delayed until 2022 as industry slams government’s silence

Cruising could be on hold until 2022 despite the international border reopening next month.

Cruise Lines International Association Director Joel Katz told Jim Wilson the government’s radio silence on cruising industry guidelines is preventing ships from returning to Australian waters.

“We’re still not having any kind of meaningful engagement with government, either at the state or the federal level.

“We will have the ridiculous situation that an Australians can fly overseas and go on a cruise, but they can’t cruise in their own backyard.”
