Crowd record set in Adelaide

A record crowd has poured into Adelaide Oval on Day 1 of the inaugural day-night Ashes Test.

The final attendance of 55,317 is the highest crowd of any sport since the ground fully re-opened in early 2014.

It narrowly beat the 54,468 that attended the 2015 Showdown between Port Adelaide and Adelaide as well as the 53,817 that turned up for the Crows’ meeting with Geelong in the AFL Finals series earlier this year.
