Organised criminals are being warned to expect frequent visits from police looking to stamp out drug supply and violence.

A new power has come into effect allowing officers to apply for a Drug Supply Prohibition Order which lets them search the homes of convicted drug dealers without a warrant.

The plan is being trialled in four areas across the state.

Police Minister Paul Toole has told Ben Fordham the new powers are to keep the community safe.

“It will send a very clear message to them that if you’re not considering a brand new path then expect to be harassed by our police for a very long time.”

NSW shadow minister for police Walt Secord told Ray Hadley he supports the law but the trial should be extended across NSW.

“These gangs are so sophisticated they’ll simply just go outside of the Bankstown area.”
